We proudly boast the unique features of our vessels. But it is our clients and their experiences that back us up.

Sea Quest Hawaii

PROJECT OBJECTIVE We have been building boats for SQ Hawaii since the early 90’s. And we are now on the third company owner while continuing to support their growth and changing needs. The design objective and challenge has always been to produce a small boat that can enhance a safe but fun experience for their clients. We accomplish this while meeting the latest USCG inspected boat regulations.

SOLUTION: Meeting this challenge started with our first Inspected 20 foot boat carrying 18 passengers – a huge upgrade from a rubber boat off the beach! This initial little boat carried the company forward to our current K-Class models that carry 33 passengers on a 30 foot boat. Decades and so much fun later!Be sure to check them out yourself at seaquesthawaii.com

U.S. Antarctic Program

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: For ten years now SOLAS has been designing and supplying RIB’s to the US Antarctic Program. The initial design objective was to provide a compact rigid inflatable boat that would enable scientists to easily and safely transit to the Joubin Islands from the base at Palmer Station – this had never been possible and was considered too dangerous – that is until the SOLAS Model 4.8!

SOLUTION: Suitably modified and equipped for sea ice conditions, this little boat changed the face of science for the Station community in Antarctica. The team has hands-on experience in high latitude waters and well understands the nuances and challenges surrounding the safe operation of small boats in ice infested waters. This solution is directly related to the collaboration of scientists / program personnel and engineering team. The Southern Antarctic season has a very limited number of days where a scientist can be at sea, or access a remote island by boat. SOLAS is proud to be “that boat”.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: Dr Ari Friedlaelander, a noted whale scientist, approached us with a request to develop a specification to meet his research needs/goals and further enhance the data capture surrounding cetacean traffic off the California coast. This was a complicated task. This vessel needed to work with shallow diving animals and have the capability to work 30 miles off-shore to access deep diving species in Monterey Canyon. Safety, sea-keeping and range were all significant challenges.

SOLUTION: The solution was a new hull form, our model 8.0XL. The delivered boat has a significant electrical capacity, including clean AC power enabling installation of a large 4 transducer array that can deploy two feet below the surface and then raise back into the hull. Currently, the 8.0XL is in daily use and is exceeding all expectations. Once again, our team is extremely proud of this outcome.

United States Geological Survey

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: We have a 30-year history supplying boats to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and we are not slowing down. These boats tend to be multi-use, but one recent focus of interest was Sea Otter research.

SOLUTION: We worked closely with both the Alaska and California biologists to fine tune design elements that enhance their challenging work with a canny and reclusive animal. It was a true collaboration and a great outcome.
